Coming into contact with someone who has been infected with COVID-19 is something we all want to prevent. Contact tracing has become more common in reducing the number of people infected with the virus. In Canada, there is an app that uses bluetooth to estimate if someone goes into close contact with another person by measuring the strength of the signal. While in some US states, people are contacted by phone to be informed that they came in to contact with someone that tested positive for COVID-19. There has been cases of people getting calls or texts that are not from certified contact tracers. They would ask you to give them your social security number or pay them because they informed you, a real contact tracer would not do that. Please do not click on the links because it can download malware on your device. Block these numbers at all time. These scammers will take an advantage of any crisis for their own benefit.
